Banking Exam Preparation: A Clear Plan for SBI PO and IBPS
Banking exams like SBI PO and IBPS PO aren't really testing how much you know — they're testing how fast and accurately you can apply it under pressure. Once you understand that, your whole preparation changes. Here's a plan built around what these exams actually reward.

Know the Two-Stage Structure

Most banking exams run in two stages. Prelims usually focus on English, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning, while Mains adds General/Banking Awareness, Computer Aptitude and often a descriptive paper. Patterns are revised from time to time, so confirm the current one from the official notification — then plan each stage separately instead of studying everything at once.
In prelims, speed decides your score. In mains, awareness decides it. Prepare for both differently.

Prelims Is a Speed Test

You'll have very little time per question in prelims, so accuracy at speed is everything. Learn calculation shortcuts, practice reasoning puzzles daily, and always practice with a timer. A good drill: take a short banking mock test, then review only the questions that took you too long — those are your real weak spots.

Don't Ignore Awareness and Computers

Many candidates clear prelims and then lose mains on General Awareness. Banking and financial awareness, plus computer knowledge, are scoring areas that need steady revision. Also follow weekly current affairs — banking mains leans heavily on the last few months of news, especially economy and banking updates.

Practice Like It's the Real Exam

Simulate the pressure. Take timed banking mock tests regularly, analyse every attempt, and fix one weak area at a time. Keep practising on Quiz Mitra and the real exam will feel like just another mock.
