L&T Technology Services has launched its first AI-native Engineering Intelligence Lab for digital manufacturing in India. Announced on October 12, 2026, the facility is intended to demonstrate how AI-native manufacturing, digital twins and autonomous systems can work together across industrial lifecycles, according to Business Standard.

The laboratory is built using Siemens and Nvidia technologies. Its demonstrations will focus on manufacturing operations, warehouses, distribution and supply chains, where AI can automate activities and support productivity. The lab is organised around four capability pillars: manufacturing intelligence, AI-native factory, operations AI and autonomy, and EIOne. Business Standard reported that EIOne brings together more than 100 engineering intelligence solutions and agentic AI swarms within a single governed ecosystem. Agentic AI refers to systems designed to carry out multistep tasks, rather than only responding to individual prompts.

For students and job seekers, the launch illustrates how AI applications are extending beyond chatbots and office software into physical production environments. Digital twins are virtual representations of physical assets or processes that can support simulation and analysis. In manufacturing, these approaches can help engineers explore operations and evaluate changes in a simulated environment. The announcement also shows why knowledge of industrial processes, automation and AI may be relevant to engineering careers. The launch itself does not establish how much productivity the facility will deliver.

Business Standard reported that LTTS plans to establish a similar facility in the United States by the end of financial year 2027. The Indian lab will initially address discrete manufacturing use cases, with the company describing an intention to expand into discrete and process manufacturing. The report did not provide a confirmed opening date for the proposed US facility beyond the stated target period.
