Anthropic's public offering plans have provided a closer look at how the AI company is developing its business with large organisations. TechCrunch reported on October 26 that Anthropic's filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission described growth in enterprise customers and adoption of multiple products. The strategy encourages businesses already using its Claude platform to adopt additional tools, including Claude Code and Cowork.
According to TechCrunch's account of the filing, as of September 30 Anthropic had more than 11,900 customers spending at least $100,000 annually. More than 1,900 customers spent upwards of $1 million, and about 250 spent $10 million or more each year. More than half of customers spending at least $100,000 annually used both the Claude platform and a first-party application, up from about 30% at the end of the previous year.
The figures illustrate why enterprise software companies often try to sell several connected products to the same organisation. Customers can begin with an application programming interface, or API, which lets other software access a service, then introduce coding and workplace tools to additional teams. Broader use may increase spending per customer, although customer spending figures do not establish the profitability of each product.
TechCrunch also reported that Anthropic is investing in Applied AI teams that help businesses integrate Claude into existing technology systems. The company has also established a venture with Blackstone and other private equity firms called Ode with Anthropic to embed engineers in businesses and develop tailored AI tools. The filing offers investors information about customer adoption and the company's approach to expanding enterprise use as it prepares for a public debut.
